Meet Hui Ding

August 15, 2016

CIRES research associate Hui Ding began working in PDS's Atmosphere-Ocean Processes Team this past February, under the supervision of Mike Alexander and Matt Newman. He is involved in the Earth System Modeling (ESM) project. A primary objective of his work on this project is to better understand interannual to decadal predictability in the tropical atmosphere-ocean system. For instance, he is working on ENSO predictability through a combination of reanalysis, observations, CGCM runs and some simple statistical models. He is also interested in interannual variability and predictability in the tropical Atlantic, which is similar to the tropical Pacific in many aspects.

Hui earned his Ph.D in 2010 from the GEOMAR Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel and Kiel University, Germany. He was working at GEOMAR as a postdoc before joining PSL.
