Dr. Lan conducts carbon cycles researches to better understand the sources and sinks of important greenhouses gases, which include time series analyses of long-term datasets for trends, comparison with other studies including those using satellite retrievals and with model simulations. Her works focus on atmospheric CO2 and CH4 on regional and global scale based on atmospheric measurements. Currently, she is investigating the atmospheric CH4 trends in the U.S to infer trends in emissions (e.g. oil and natural gas emissions), the global CH4 trends and the global CO2 budgets with focus on ocean flux.
