An Overview of NCEP Short-Range Ensemble Forecasting (SREF) System

The NCEP SREF system has become an integrated and critical part of the daily weather forecasting process in the U.S. National Weather Service since it's operationally implemented in 2001. The talk will overview this multi-model, multi-physics, multi-IC and multi-LBC based SREF system including what lessons learned, the current configulation and performance, recent activities and future development plans.
