This directory contains daily and weekly averaged merged SST data.
The daily data are combined into monthly tar files.  Compression
has been applied to all data files using gzip.  

Weekly data file information
----------------------------

July 18, 2003:
Weekly data are centered on Wednesdays.  The first Wednesday is Jan 6, 1999.  
Two years of data are contained in the weekly data file (104 weeks).

Versions description
---------------------

July 18, 2003:
Version V1a contains the first version to blend the MCSST and TMI SST data
products.  Both data sets have been bias adjusted to remove the
diurnal cycle of the surface layer.  TMI has addition bias corrections
caused by water vapor and wind speed contamination.
