Researchers Taneil Uttal, Chris Cox and Sara Crepinsek, of ESRL's Physical Sciences Laboratory, are part of a expedition heading north to a remote NOAA-run research station in the Canadian Arctic. Their goal is to repair, replace, and maintain meteorological instruments at Alert Station, which is part of an integrated Arctic network contributing data for climate research.

Located about 500 miles from the North Pole, Alert Station is the northern most inhabited field site, and the team is excited to experience its frosty Arctic temperatures first-hand! They will be out on the tundra with the hope of installing even more meteorological measurements to the station.
