5:39:09 PM 5/20/2014 - notes! Mackenzie Smith 7:32:40 PM 5/20/2014 - pass gas plant to the right, but not downwind of it 7:36 PM 5/20/2014 - generally passing through scattered showers since takeoff --> can see rain drops on Tw.Otter windsheild 7:39:20 PM 5/20/2014 - enormous pit flare on our left 7:40:30 PM 5/20/2014 - two small pipe flares on left 7:42:40 PM 5/20/2014 - downwind of some flares on our right, as aircraft is turning back at point 30 7:43:44 PM 5/20/2014 - not sure what we're downwind of as we turn - looks like flares in the distance off to the right side. 7:46:01 PM 5/20/2014 - giant pit flare on right --we're upwind of it now, but this is the target for the downwind leg (pt 32 to 33). 7:53 PM 5/20/2014 - saw flares visually to right of aircraft on downwind pass - but nothing in data 7:55:00 PM 5/20/2014- downwind of a single pipe flare on right 7:57 PM 5/20/2014 - didn't see anything from plane for large ethane and methan peaks in data 8:00:56 PM 5/20/2014 - saw large peaks in data downwind of flares to right --> pilots estimated they were about maybe about half a mile away 8:02:31 PM 5/20/2014 - pass same set of flares on left as we turn back to flight path - seen from plane and in data as well 8:07 PM 5/20/2014 -passing d/w of a couple of flares to the right 8:09 PM 5/20/2014 - flares to right of plane continue... see indiv. peaks in the methane and ethane data as well 8:16:20 PM 5/20/2014 -flares to left of plane observed 8:19:49 PM 5/20/2014 - pipe flare to left 8:20:30 PM 5/20/2014 - many more flares in a row off to the left 8:22:40 PM 5/20/2014 - couple of flares to left (pipe?) 8:23:10 PM 5/20/2014 - flare on left 8:42:00 PM 5/20/2014 - well pad to the right 8:43:00 PM 5/20/2014 - large flare to the right 8:49:14 PM 5/20/2014 - some flares to right --> see video vertical profile ~8:59 PM cloud base ~ 4200 ft, head back down when ethane/methane really leveled off (don't necessarily wait for water vapor) cloud base ~ 4600 ft on way back down 9:16 PM 5/20/2014 - drilling rig right next to the airport we passed -- maybe cause of spike in ethane.
