The ship departed Portsmouth at 1515 UTC with approximately 30 guests. Winds offshore were northwesterly at 11m/s dropping to less than 1 m/s at sunset. The ship ran the coastal course 2 nm from shore until 0000Z (30 July). Pollution levels were moderate with O3 ranging from 50-60 ppb and scattering (green) averaging around 40 mM-1. In the low wind conditions the instruments on the O2 deck occasionally sampled ship exhaust. The guests disembarked on the UNH vessel at 1800. At 0Z the ship began heading for the area south of Cape Ann.
