Non-Refractory PM1 measurements with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)'s High Resolution Time of Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-ToF AMS) for identification of exact ion mass and aerosol mass distributions; deployed with UHSAS (Ultra-High Sensitivity Aerosol Spectrometer) to account for combined effect of AMS collection efficiency and relative ionization efficiency

Time resolution: 1 s (up to 1 Hz)
Detection limits (W-mode): < 0.4 μg m-3 for 1 s
Precision: signal dependent
Accuracy: 20-100%
Mass resolution (W-mode): up to ~4300 at m/z 200

Measurement Science Foci:

  • Characterizing fresh emissions
  • Observing near field daytime and nighttime changes in composition and properties
  • Examining relationship between composition and UV/VIS absorption
