This
is the view at Seattle as the melt season begins and the first ponds form. Transportation to SHEBA shifts from
aircraft to icebreakers. The ridge in the background formed during the
winter, crushing an ablation stake in the process. We continued drifting
west, slowly approaching Russian airspace.
