Mass: The Ridge

The Ridge mass balance site was a young ridge that probably formed in the spring of 1997. In the fall of 1997, individual blocks could easily be identified in the ridge.  The site had a thermistor string and 20 thickness gauges. There were some summer gaps in the temperature record due to moisture programs with the data logger. The schematic shows the ID number and initial ice thickness in cm ( ) in October 1997 for each of the gauges. Click on the gauge to see the results.
