| We actually got 6 nm because the position was harder for the pilot to determine this time. | ||||||||
| The mosaic was a square 6 nm on a side and centered on the ship. | ||||||||
| The pattern was a series of 16 (actually 17) parallel lines 6 nm long, oriented N-S, and separated by approximately 1/3 nm. | ||||||||
| The pattern was flown as 17 lines beginning at the south-east corner (N 78o 34' W 165o 18') | ||||||||
| Helicopter altitude was 6000' | ||||||||
| BL and TCG were on board the helicopter | ||||||||
| There was light fog in the southeast region but the surface was unobscured otherwise. | ||||||||
| My (TCG) watch was set 3 sec. ahead of Bonnie's and the polycorders were set to my watch. | ||||||||
| The VCR was switched on shortly before takeoff to avoid timing out and losing the time mark. | ||||||||
| I (BL) believe pilot made each leg 6nm actually (0.5 nm on each end to get the lines aligned) | ||||||||
