2002 Project Accomplishments
- The Search began for a no assumption robust decoder that could be used by the private sector for their FISDL systems.
- GSD and NCAR presented their findings to the FAA and Private Vendors on the state of METAR decoders that were currently available.
- FSL and NCAR recommended using a METAR decoder developed at FSL by the Information Technology Services (ITS) division as a starting point for developing a robust no assumption decoder.
- FSL procured and configured a development and real-time ingest system for efforts in this process.
