EXPERIENCE
NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION
Deputy Director, Chemical Sciences Division, Earth System Research Laboratory, 2006 to present
Assist Dr. A.R. Ravishankara, Division Director in the leadership and management of the Chemical Sciences Division (CSD). Represent the Division through technical presentations and participation in NOAA and OAR management and planning functions. The Division's approximately 120 scientists, engineers, students, postdoctoral researchers, and support staff are engaged in research that provides a sound scientific basis for decisions made in industry and government related to climate understanding, air quality improvement, and ozone layer protection.

Air Quality Program Matrix Manager, 2003 to Present
Provide leadership and overall direction for the NOAA-wide Air Quality Matrix Program within the Weather and Water Goal. Responsible for coordinating air quality program planning and tracking execution in four NOAA line Offices. Direct and participate in the preparation of annual Program Operating Plans and Annual Operating Plans as part of NOAA's PPBES process. Prepare quarterly quad charts to track progress on Program milestones and performance measures.

Research Chemist, 1998 to Present
Participate in and provide leadership for integrated multi-agency, multi-institutional regional air quality field measurements aimed at understanding the chemical and meteorological processes and conditions that lead to elevated concentrations of ozone, aerosols, and other air pollutants. Provide scientific leadership and coordination for NOAA's Health of the Atmosphere research program and Air Quality Forecasting pilot program. Assist Laboratory Director in efforts to integrate and coordinate NOAA's atmospheric research programs with other federal and private sector research programs.

TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY
Manager, Atmospheric Sciences, 1993 - 1997
Provided leadership and vision for agency's research and operational support program in atmospheric sciences. Directed the development and execution of research programs to support the agency's environmental stewardship responsibilities. Responsible for the development of partnerships, both within and outside the agency, to meet the agency's research needs.

Manager, Atmospheric Processes, 1985 - 1993
Directed agency's research program on atmospheric processes and effects of air pollutants on the environment. Lead a diverse group (25-30) of highly qualified, strongly motivated scientists addressing a variety of air quality issues of importance to the agency. Work with program managers in various parts of the agency to identify current and future research issues.

Group Leader, Atmospheric Chemistry, 1976 - 1985
Directed the agency's research program in atmospheric chemistry. Supervised a staff of six. Responsible for the design, execution and the reporting results from modeling, laboratory and field studies into pollutant transport and transformation in the atmosphere. The major program emphasis was on the fate of air pollutants emitted from coal-fired power plants.

PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY, CENTER FOR AIR ENVIRONMENT STUDIES
Postdoctoral Fellow (Prof. Julian Heicklen) and Research Faculty, 1973 - 1976
Performed research and directed the research of three doctoral students in atmospheric chemistry.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
Postdoctoral Research Associate (Prof. B.S. Rabinovitch), 1971 - 1973
Conducted basic research into intramolecular and intermolecular energy transfer processes.
