TAU Cloud Microphysical Code: Method of Moments

The TAU-Method of Moments microphysical code was developed at the Tel Aviv University's Department of Geophysics and Planetary Sciences in the 1980s and 1990s. It has been applied to both warm boundary layer clouds and to deep convection, and in models ranging from cloud parcel models, large eddy simulations, to regional models (e.g., the Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS) the United Kingdom Meteorological Office (UKMO) Large Eddy model (LEM) and the Weather Research & Forecasting (WRF) model).

The primary authors are Shalva Tzivion, Graham Feingold, Zev Levin and Tamir Reisin. The code has also benefitted from significant work by Yan Yin, Bjorn Stevens, Jerry Harrington, Istvan Geresdi and Adrian Hill.

The FORTRAN source code for the warm cloud microphysics code can be downloaded freely below (last updated 12 June 2012). Installation Instructions are also bundled with the download.

Note: This code is compatible for use with version 2.3 of the kinematic driver (KiD) model for testing microphysical codes (contacts Adrian Hill and Ben Shipway, UKMO).
