What: The study seeks to quantify California's starting point for complying with the federal ozone standard by making precise ozone measurements aloft with a diverse suite of instruments and measurement platforms, including ESRL CSD ozone lidar measurements, SJSU ozonesonde observations (with technical guidance from ESRL GMD), UC Davis/Scientific Aviation Mooney aircraft measurements, and NASA Ames Alpha Jet Project observations.
Who: Investigators from the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) Chemical Sciences and Global Monitoring Divisions, the University of Colorado (CU) Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), San Jose State University (SJSU), the University of California Davis (UC Davis), Scientific Aviation, NASA Ames Research Center, California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the NASA Student Airborne Research Program (SARP).
Funding for the study is being provided by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the NOAA ESRL Chemical Sciences Division (CSD), and the NASA Tropospheric Ozone Lidar Network (TOLNet).
