WinterStorms 2004 General Info

What The NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory Chemical Sciences Division (formerly the Aeronomy Laboratory) Pacific Sub-Tropical Jet Study investigated the transport of ozone in the vicinity of the Pacific jetstream and was performed in conjunction with the 2004 Winter Storms Reconnaissance program.

Who Coordinating organizations include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) Chemical Sciences Division (CSD) [formerly the Aeronomy Laboratory (AL)], and the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center (AOC).

This 2004 Winter Storms study and the NOAA CSD Pacific Sub-Tropical Jet Study were concurrent projects. Depending on the meteorological conditions, flights were planned to investigate storms or the Pacific jetstream. Approximately 6 of the 30 flights were specifically designed for the Pacific Sub-Tropical Jet Study.
